The Highland Park School District is a diverse and dynamic learning community that serves over 1,500 students in four schools. As a relatively small school system in a very diverse community (our students speak 29 different languages), Highland Park’s schools offer a broad range of programs and learning opportunities that are enhanced by strong support from families, guardians and community members.
Its proximity to Rutgers University and the cultural center of Middlesex County (New Brunswick) affords students and their families/guardians a vast number of opportunities otherwise not provided by a traditional school district. Highland Park’s schools have taken advantage of its locale by forging a range of partnerships with the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education, the Rutgers University Psychology Department, George Street Playhouse, and other regional organizations.
District educators have distinguished themselves in a multitude of ways, winning honors and public recognition for their achievement and expertise. They bring compassion, commitment and extraordinary skill to their classrooms each and every day. In the Highland Park School District, caring adults play an important role in student success. Our focus on partnering families has always been a priority. Parents, guardians and family members can expect to be warmly welcomed at school, to receive timely and helpful information about student progress and ways to help their child learn, and to be invited to join in school activities. Highland Park’s schools reflect the vision of the community it serves and is an important part of the lives of all the township’s residents.
