Candidate must hold a NJ Teacher of Health and Physical Education Certificate (Standard, CE, or CEAS). Candidate must have an understanding of the NJ Student Learning Standards (NJSLS). The successful candidate will have experience working with elementary school children and have the ability to teach a comprehensive physical education and a proven ability to motivate students to engage in physical education. Candidate must be enthusiastic, reliable and energetic. Candidate must be able to pass the NJDOE criminal history background check, Sexual Misconduct/Child Abuse Disclosure and a pre-employment physical.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Works to achieve district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board-adopted curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.
- Demonstrates methods that support the physical, social, cognitive and emotional development of children.
- Creates an appropriate physical education instructional program and adaptations for learners of different abilities. - Understands individual group behaviors and motivations to create a safe learning environment.
- Creates learning environments that encourage positive social interaction and self-motivation.
- Understands effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques to enhance learning and encourage engagement. - Plans and implements developmentally appropriate instructional strategies.
- Integrates available technologies in meaningful ways at regular intervals to assist in the delivery of instruction and add to the diversity of ways that students may demonstrate knowledge gained.
- Monitors student academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction.
- Maintains records of student's educational progress in class record books and/or board approved forms and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss student progress.
- Plans class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students.
- Maintains professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
- Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings, committees and other school system groups.
- Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
- Supervises students in out of classroom activities as assigned.
- Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.
- Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of employee, student, and other sensitive District information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
