Caldwell University invites applications for a Summer Academy Nurse.This position is scheduled to work from 8:30 am to 5 pm, beginning June 23rd and ends August 1, 2025. Reporting to the Summer Academy Director, the Academy Nurse will oversee the health and safety of Academyers and staff by managing the health center, administering medications, providing first aid, treating injuries and illnesses, and acting as a liaison between Caldwell Summer Academy, Academyers' families, and healthcare providers. Additionally, the nurse will handle medication management and ensure students' health needs. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Administering medications and providing care for non-emergency health needs.
- Serving as a liaison between Caldwell Summer Academy and parents regarding health needs and necessary paperwork before students' arrival.
- Maintaining inventory and ordering medical supplies and equipment.
- Reviewing and organizing health records, including immunization reports, for students. Communicating relevant health information to the Academy staff.
- Managing health center records, including treatment logs, medication logs, accident/incident reports, and documentation required by the state of New Jersey.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the health center.
- Notifying Academy directors of any serious illnesses or injuries involving Academyers or staff.
- Communicating with local doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and parents as needed.
Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and hold a degree in Nursing or equivalent. Current certifications as a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician’s Assistant (PA) in New Jersey are preferred. Prior experience as an RN, APRN, NP, or PA, especially in pediatrics or school nursing, is highly desirable. First Aid and CPR/AED certification is required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
