ACCOUNT CLERK FOR FOOD SERVICES

POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounts Clerk shall provide bookkeeping, organizational and clerical assistance to his/her designated supervisor(s) by performing such duties as may be assigned within the scope of this job description. Under limited supervision as appropriate, the Accounts Clerk shall apply and share required levels of knowledge and skill, exercise independent judgment, and initiate independent action in his/her fulfillment of his/her assigned duties and contribute to the overall effective and efficient operation of his her building or department and the district.

DUTIES

The Accounts Clerk shall effectively and efficiently perform the specific tasks assigned by his/her supervisor(s), and support the effective and efficient performance of other district employees, within the scope of the Position Summary and Duties set forth in this job description.

  • Maintain properly identified, organized, and up-to-date files, records, and reports.
  • Prepare reports for the Board of Education and the Superintendent
  • Demonstrate skill in using job-related materials and/or equipment. Demonstrate a command of business English, including letter-writing skills.
  • Obtain, gather and organize pertinent data as needed and put into usable form. Demonstrate ability to make advanced mathematical computations and tabulations. Demonstrate ability to perform advanced bookkeeping duties.
  • Input student data and print out reports as required from the district's student information system.
  • Use the District's accounting software to perform tasks as assigned.
  • Perform such other assignments as may be required.
  • Answer phones in a courteous and friendly manner.

    Demonstrate proper telephone and email etiquette.

  • Place and follow-up on technology support requests through email and phone. Accurately record and relay telephone messages.

  • Use proper grammar.

  • Ability to function independently as appropriate, analyze a situation accurately, and adopt and implement an effective course of action required.
  • Execute the supervisor's instructions completely and in a timely and efficiently

    manner

REPORTS TO

The Account Clerk shall be responsible to, and evaluated by, his/her designated supervisor(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior account clerk experience required (minimum of three (3) years preferred). Ability to type 65 words per minute required
  • Experience in a public school setting is preferred.
  • Business or bookkeeping courses and/or one (1) year of post-secondary training preferred. Ability to effectively utilize word processing, spreadsheet, and other office software, and such office equipment, as may be currently used in the District, required.
  • Effective computational, problem-solving, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Effective human relations skills that support collaborative communication and collaboration with supervisors, staff, students, parents/guardians, community members, job other school district applicants/candidates,
  • constituencies required.

Account Clerks shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Board of Education. The position shall be a 12-month position as approved by the Board, and shall be eligible for tenure in accordance with applicable law.
