Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the components of a comprehensive developmental counseling program, substance abuse curriculum development, counseling and staff development, and the resources available in the school and community to assist secondary students
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and sensitive interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and educators
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and resources
  • Broad knowledge of testing and evaluation, theories of individual and group counseling techniques, and secondary school counseling program design
  • Experience managing student database systems
  • Experience working with at-risk students
  • Minimum experience as determined by the board

Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate: Student Assistance Coordinator endorsement or eligibility required
  • Required criminal history background check, fingerprinting and proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status
