Job Overview:
Washington Borough Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated ESL Teacher to provide English language support to our diverse student population. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the academic and linguistic growth of English Language Learners (ELLs). The ESL Teacher will develop and implement effective ESL instruction, assess student progress, and collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language development into content area instruction. The successful candidate will also be committed to learning about the WIDA assessment and best practices in the identification and assessment of qualified English Language Learners.
Note: Washington Borough recognizes the difficulty in finding fully certified ESL teachers and is willing to consider candidates who hold a Certificate of Eligibility (CE) and are committed to obtaining the appropriate New Jersey ESL certification. The district offers tuition reimbursement to support teachers in this pursuit.
Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate with ESL endorsement or a Certificate of Eligibility (CE) and a commitment to obtaining ESL certification.
- Biligual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Knowledge of assessment tools and data-driven instruction.
