Substitute School Nurse

SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL NURSE

Nature And Scope Of Job:
The Substitute School Nurse will serve as the primary advocate for the health and well-being of students and staff within the school.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to health screening and services, emergency first aid, the care of those who are ill and/or injured while in the school, maintenance of health records, instruction in sound health practices and counsel students, staff and parents concerning health conditions, care, treatment and other community health issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A valid NJDOE School Nurse Certificate #3000 or a valid NJDOE School Nurse-Non Instructional Certificate #3010
• Hold a valid, current New Jersey RN License; if an RN is eligible for an Emergency Certification, the candidate must provide documented proof of enrollment in a qualified program to obtain the required courses necessary for the issuance of a Standard School Nurse-Non Instructional Certificate within 3 years from date of hire. 
• Hold a current CPR and First Aid Certification
• Hold and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations
• Hold a Child Care Health Consultant Certification, preferred

• Per diem rate will be based on APEA Negotiated Agreement
• 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
• Reports to the Building Principal and Director of Special Services
