JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must be Special Education Certified. Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of differentiated teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities. Candidate must be enthusiastic, reliable and energetic. Candidate must be able to pass a NJDOE criminal history background check.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based
upon student learning styles.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, provides individualized and small group instruction to classified
students in accordance with each student’s Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
- Integrates technology to meet the needs of each student.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and
student learning.
- Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through the
presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
- Works cooperatively with regular education teaching staff to coordinate instructional activities and to monitor the
progress of each student and provides support instruction in the regular classroom or resource center as
assigned.
- Maintains records of student's educational progress in board approved forms and summarizes these marks for
reporting purposes.
- Consults with members of the child study team regarding each student's educational program, academic program
and personal growth. Meets at least once annually with the case manager, parents and other professional staff to
review and revise the individualized education program and placement of each assigned student.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and
to discuss student progress.
- Maintains professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other
professional growth activities.
- Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and
maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Ability to understand and adhere to, interpret, and apply District policies and procedures.
- Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of employee, student, and other sensitive District information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
