Band Teacher - Elementary and Middle School - After School

DESCRIPTION:
Elementary and Middle School - After SchoolBand Teacher - After school hours, and some evening events.  Weekly on Mondays and Fridays from 3PM-4PM.

This is a co-teaching position, beginning in December.  The current teacher will co-teach until she takes maternity leave later in the school year and this position would assume responsibility for leading the program. 
 
JOB SUMMARY:         
We are seeking a Band Teacher to instruct students in a classroom environment after school that fosters
learning and personal growth and works to achieve the educational goals established by the school. 
 
Specific responsibilities and qualifications include:

• Planning for and teaching small group band lessons
• Planning for and teaching band classes
• Collaborating with a team teacher in to plan for small grop and whole group lessons.
• Knowledge of beginning and intermediate band
• In depth knowledge of  pedagogy for select instruments.  Preferrably including some of the followiing: 
• • Flute
  • Clarinet
  • Saxophone
  • Trumpet
  • Trombone 
• Strong understanding of elenentary and middle school age group and mentality
• Familiarity with instructional technology and music technology

• Teaching and classroom management skills

REQUIREMENTS:                       

• High School diploma
• Substiute teacher certification preferrred
• NJ Certification (Music, K-8) preferred
• Exemplary Technology skills
• Ability to collaboratively interact with students, parents, and colleagues
