Description TITLE: CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY HUMAN RESOURCES

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma; secretarial experience.
Experience in a school setting.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer applications (Word, Excel, and Google Suite).
Strong analytical, communication and human relation skills.
Ability to understand the need to be confidential when dealing with personnel matters.
Required criminal history background check.

REPORTS TO: Director for Human Resources

JOB GOAL: Perform secretarial and clerical duties entailing a high degree of responsibility and
confidentiality. Use judgment and discretion to carry out all secretarial duties necessary for the
smooth and efficient operation of the office.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
General secretarial duties as needed.
Post job vacancies as directed and send out announcements.
Schedule interviews as requested.
Process Substitute Teacher credentials.
Complete of all necessary on-boarding activities for new hires.
Enroll and maintain employees in Health, Dental, Prescription and other insurance plans,
providing and assisting in the completion of enrollment change and claim forms
Process worker’s compensation claims.
Maintain the Human Resource Department and individual personnel files.
Process requests for leaves of absence and maintain a list.
Respond to all requests for employment verification.
Schedule all employee requests to review personnel files.
Ensure RICE notification is provided to staff members as required by New Jersey Administrative
Code, when directed.
Provide the Human Resources Director with an accurate list of staff members by category
(tenure, non-tenure, corrective action plan required), building location, and if appropriate
department.
Assist all staff members with questions regarding certification.
Prepare motions for the personnel section of the board agenda.
Complete state staff reports as assigned.
Schedule employee exit interviews.
Complete registration for the Human Resources Director to attend annual college fairs and other
staff recruiting events.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources and/or the Superintendent.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the
NJ State law and the provisions of the Board’s policy.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month

BARGAINING UNIT: Non-Bargaining Position
