Job Description
As an Elementary School Teacher at Thrive Charter School, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience and academic growth of young learners. You will create a supportive and engaging classroom environment, facilitate learning across various subjects, and foster the social-emotional development of students. Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) across multiple subject areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with individualized education plans (IEPs) and English language learners (ELLs).
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.
- Administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and inform instructional decision-making.
- Analyze assessment data to identify student strengths and areas for growth, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Communicate student progress to parents/guardians through regular progress reports, conferences, and other channels.
- Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance, and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement proactive strategies for classroom management and conflict resolution, fostering a sense of responsibility and mutual respect among students.
- Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and support staff to address behavioral concerns and provide appropriate interventions as needed.
- Foster open and ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
- Encourage parental involvement in their child's education through volunteer opportunities, workshops, and family engagement activities.
- Participate in school-wide events, committees, and community outreach initiatives to promote a positive school culture and strengthen partnerships with families and community stakeholders.
- Engage in continuous professional growth and learning by participating in professional development opportunities, workshops, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with colleagues, grade-level teams, and special education staff to share best practices, resources, and instructional strategies.
- Contribute to the school community through active involvement in staff meetings, committees, and professional learning communities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
- New Jersey Teacher Certification or eligibility for certification through the New Jersey Department of Education.
- Strong knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and effective instructional practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Dedication to meeting the academic, social-emotional, and individual needs of all students.
- Commitment to cultural competence, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and school community.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
