Job Summary
At Ranney School, the nurse provides overall health services. Their primary goal is to treat student, faculty or staff injuries or illnesses and advise students, their parents or guardians, and staff on health issues. Apart from injuries and sudden ailments, our school nurse may also support students with chronic illnesses and disabilities – for example, by administering medication to them (e.g. insulin injections). The school nurse also promotes health-related habits (e.g. proper hand-washing) and ensures compliance with national and local health policies for schools.
Essential Duties
The school nurse will:
? Provide healthcare to students with acute or chronic health problems
? Conduct screenings in accordance with state regulations
? Develop and monitor health plans for students
Responsibilities:
? Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene
? Detect health problems in early stages through regular screenings
? Keep track of students’ health and vaccination records
? Update students’ medical history
? Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases)
? Assist with understanding and management of students’ known allergies and health needs with faculty and staff who need to know
? Ensure compliance with national and local health laws
Common Qualification Requirements
? Degree in Nursing with practical experience
? Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills

? Strong networking skills to ensure access to resources in the broader community
