Dates: 7/1/24 – 6/30/25 + (15 days over summer)
Reports to: Director of Pupil Services, Director of Guidance and Mental Health Support Services
Required Qualifications: New Jersey Certification as a School Social Worker
Primary Purpose: The clinician is committed to supporting the behavioral and emotional needs of students by providing an array of developmentally appropriate counseling, behavioral and academic services.
Responsibilities:
- Provides psychological, clinical. and case management services to students.
- Provides ongoing student counseling, treatment and intervention (virtually and in-person).
- Effective problem-solving, human relations and communication skills.
- Attends weekly meetings with administration for caseload review and status updates (enrollment, completion).
- Coordinates individual / group counseling and family support services in consultation with applicable stakeholders (i.e. administration,,Child Study Team member, parent, student) and if applicable, as outlined in the IEP.
- Successful experience working with families and community health and social services agencies.
- Able to conduct crisis assessment and interventional case management.
- Establishes student contract requisites including dates/times/location, activities and evidence of completion.
- Bi-monthly articulation meetings with middle school and high school clinicians
- Conducts crisis screening and assessment as necessary and assists with the re-entry meetings and coordination with family where applicable.
- Assists in the development and coordination of an appropriate plan for each pupil requiring services and participates in the ongoing evaluation of the academic progress and program placement of students in the program.
- Serves as a liaison for parents/students for services and outside providers.
- May serve as students’ IEP/504 primary case manager.
- Plans home visits, when necessary.
- Participates in professional training as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence and to keep abreast of best practices regarding child and adolescent development.
- Assists in planning and participating in student, staff and community psycho-educational blogs, webinars, and discussion platforms.
- Participates in community connection activities.
- Maintains documentation of services, home/school communication log, and completes data reports as requested by the supervisor.
- Keeps the staff and community informed of the district’s mental health services.
