Summary:
We are seeking a certified School Counselor to join our team at Eleanor Rush Intermediate School as a replacement for a staff member on an anticipated leave of absence. This leave is temporary and will run from October 28, 2024 until March 5, 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing counseling services to students, as well as developing and facilitating classroom lessons centered on topics related to social-emotional learning.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with students on academic, social, and personal issues
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop strategies for supporting student success
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of students to identify academic and behavioral needs
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records
- Participate in school-wide initiatives to promote a positive school culture and support student well-being
- Attend meetings and professional development opportunities as required
Requirements:
- Valid NJ state certification as a School Counselor
- Knowledge of counseling theories and techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, colleagues and administrators
- Understanding of laws and regulations related to student privacy and confidentiality
