JOB DESCRIPTION- SUPERVISOR/DIRECTOR OF PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES

 

Description

The director/supervisor of pupil personnel services shall be responsible for the direct oversight of all services, programs, and governance for the guidance department district-wide. The certificate holder is authorized and expected to perform all outlined job duties.

 

Qualifications

  • Principal Endorsement Code 0200, OR Supervisor Endorsement Code 0106, OR Director of School Counseling Services Endorsement Code 0602 (State Board of Examiners & Certification, N.J.A.C.6A:9B);

  • Master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university;

  • Minimum of 30 graduate credits in required master’s program;

  • Completion of internship requirements;

  • Praxis II Test successfully passed;

  • At least 5 years of successful educational experience; and

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Central Regional Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

  • Special education/child study team experience.

  • Experience with multi-tiered systems of support.

  • Anti bullying coordinator/affirmative action experience. 

 

Responsible to

Superintendent and subsequent to the adopted Chain of Command

 

Performance Responsibilities 

  1. Oversee the effective work and services of the Guidance Department;

  2. Support academic and social-emotional needs of students using principles of counseling;

  3. Ensure that accessibility to maintained records promotes confidentiality and adherence with school policies and legal requirements;

  4. Serve as liaison to local, state, and federal agencies, and advise district personnel of legislation that may effect policies and procedures related to student services of educational and counseling programs;

  5. Serve and assume outlined responsibilities and duties of curriculum supervisory for subject area(s) if assigned;

  6. Prepare reports and budgets required or appropriate and in keeping district administrators apprised of student services ongoings;

  7. Supervise and evaluate members of respective departments and assigned staff as required using adopted evaluation procedures and instruments in accordance with state laws

  8. Create and sustain collaborative and productive relationships with school stakeholders;

  9.  Foster continuous improvement of educational practice and outcomes through professional development

  10.  Address issues/concerns, or potential issues/concerns, brought forth in accordance with protocols, policies, and laws.

  11.  Adhere with adopted federal laws, N.J.S.A. 18-A, N.J.A.C. 6-A, school policies and regulations, and contractual stipulations.

  12.  Act ethically and professionally in meeting job functions and responsibilities and perform all other duties as designated by the superintendent and/or changes in any procedure by Board policy or state law. 

 

Evaluation

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of state law and the provisions of the board’s adopted policy on evaluations.
