TRANSPORTATION: DRIVER(S) and AIDEAS NEEDED

 
START DATE:  Immediately 

Position Overview: The Florence Township School District Transportation Department plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from school, as well as for field trips and extracurricular activities. The driver is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the bus and adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate school buses in compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Transport students to and from school, following established routes and schedules.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers during transit, including assisting students with special needs and maintaining order on the bus.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure its mechanical and operational soundness.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate authorities.
  • Follow established procedures for loading and unloading students, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise during transportation.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to maintain and enhance driving and safety skills.
  • Keep accurate records of routes, mileage, and student ridership.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Clean driving record and ability to maintain a safe driving history.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent driving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with students, parents, and school staff in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to manage student behavior and maintain a safe and orderly bus environment.
  • Physically capable of assisting students with special needs and handling emergency situations if they arise.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to school bus transportation.
  • Flexibility in adapting to changing schedules and needs.
