SCHOOL OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
Qualifications:
1. Valid New Jersey School Occupational Therapist Certificate
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in the field of speech-language pathology
4. Ability to effectively apply the principles of assessment, treatment and prevention/correction
of motor disorders and needs.
5. Required criminal history background check and proof of U. S. citizenship
or legal resident alien status.
Reports To: Director of Special Education
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Conduct evaluations.
2. Plan and implement IEP goals and objectives.
3. Recommend adaptive or assistive devices for students who require alternate means to accomplish educationally related tasks.
4. Consult regarding adaptive positioning and seating materials.
5. Observe pupils in classrooms and other school settings.
6. Provide strategies to facilitate students participation in an activity.
7. Reduce barriers that limit student participation within the school environment.
8. Assist in the development and delivery of in-service programs and parent seminars.
9. Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
10. Maintain professional competence through continuing education and other professional growth activities.
11. Observe pupils in classrooms and other school settings.
12. Serve as a consultant to parents, school personnel and community groups.
13. Perform all duties required as a member of the child study team by administrative
code, state and federal laws and board policy.
14. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Education Officer or Director of Special Education.
Terms of Employment: Ten months per year.
Per Diem summer employment is possible based on need
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state
law, administrative code and provisions of the board's policy on the evaluation of certificated staff.
