World Language Teacher - Spanish
Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School, located in Jersey City, NJ seeks an experienced full-time World Language Teacher - Spanish who is passionate about engaging, motivating and working with students. We are seeking someone who will meet the educational development needs of students. Candidates should be compelling educational practitioners who are have a strong background and set of experiences in delivering special needs education curriculum. We are seeking a professional who is confident in his or her capacity to assess student needs, create and deliver a dynamic and engaging curriculum in accordance with each student’s educational needs, maintain records of student educational progress, and possess excellent communication skills with parents and stakeholders.
Major Job Responsibilities: Our teachers are responsible for students assigned and the day-to-day activities that move student behavior and learning to the highest standards of excellence and performance. The teacher implements strategies so that every student realizes his/her full educational potential. The teacher designs and implements the activities that will provide for the educational success of every student. The teacher will communicate positively and frequently with her/his professional colleagues, with each student, and with his/her parents in order to guide students to personal and academic success. The teacher serves as a mentor, coach, role model, and adult supervisor of children placed under his/her care and responsibility.

Reporting directly to the School Principal or Assistant Principal, all Teachers are responsible for students in class, anywhere in the building and/ or on School grounds. She/he will confer frequently with grade level colleagues and Cluster Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- All teachers must be licensed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or appropriate and related field
- Previous experience working as a teacher preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to communicate with all stake holders, particularly parents in actually relevant manner

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten, eleven, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal.
