Anticipated - Benefits Coordinator (2024 – 2025 School Year)

The Department of Human Resources is currently accepting applications for the position of a Benefits Coordinator for the 2024 - 2025 school year.  The anticipated availability of this position is March 1, 2025. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Prior experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in the administration of public school employee benefits (ex. medical, prescription, dental, FSA, COBRA, and Workes' Compensation).
  • Knowledge of Chapter 78 and Chapter 44
  • Experience in the use of various information systems (ex. Frontline's Absence Management, Genesis SchoolFi, and Employee Navigator).
  • A comprehensive understanding of the leave of absence process including NJFLA, FMLA, and NJFLI.
  • The ability to effectively use email and Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.


Examples of Responsibilities:

  • Daily response to emails, written correspondence, and telephone inquires
  • Management of employee benefit enrollments, terminations, policy changes, and the annual open enrollment period
  • Maintenance of information related to workers' compensation claims
  • Preparation and timely submission of various reports
  • Ensuring all information systems and internal spreadsheets are up-to-date
  • Conduct meetings with employees to review the leave of absence process and paperwork and ensure leave requests comply with all statutory requirements, district policies, and contractual language
  • Review and maintain all employee medical files
