Special Education Teacher grades 9-12

Job Summary:

The Secondary Special Education Teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities. This role requires a strong focus on Math and Science instruction, utilizing differentiated teaching strategies to ensure all students achieve their fullest potential. Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective lesson plans that meet the individual needs of students with disabilities, focusing on Math and Science.
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with parents, teachers, and other professionals.
• Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to support student learning.
• Provide direct instruction and support in Math and Science subjects.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in special education.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and engage them in the educational process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Special Education.
• Valid New Jersey teaching certification in Special Education.
• Strong content knowledge in Math and Science.
• Experience teaching secondary level students with special needs.
• Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.
• Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in English and another language is preferred but not required.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,000.00 per year
