Qualifications

  • Knowledge of database software systems used in managing student information in public schools.
  • Ability to train others in the operation of a student information system and to monitor their use.
  • Considerable knowledge of general office clerical procedures, processes, and practices.
  • Ability to coordinate, prepare, and facilitate department meetings and SIS meetings.
  • Ability to schedule and prepare for meetings and presentations as directed.
  • Ability to maintain accurate student enrollment numbers and support departments in all things related to student registration and residency.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, courtesy and tact in responding to telephone callers and office visitors and making proper disposition of problems.
  • Skill in operating computers and word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation and other office automation software.
  • Ability to track and record financial information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, faculty, administrators, parents, students, district staff, and members of the community.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of school and district rules, regulations, procedures and functions and to resolve work problems.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Coordinates the use of the Student Information System (SIS); trains school based and other users in system operation/maintenance and monitors system performance to ensure consistency and that standards are observed; keeps users updated on system changes; creates custom templates to facilitate system use; provides Help Desk support to users, responding to problems and issues that arise in the daily operation of the system; confers with school technology staff regarding technical changes to Student Information System (SIS) and related matters.
  • As assigned, may perform time and attendance, purchasing, inventorying, billing, invoice processing, financial tracking and similar administrative support functions, ensuring that such activities are accomplished in accordance with school system policies and procedures.  As authorized, may independently act on such matters to ensure their proper and time completion.
  • Prepares typed/word-processed materials, including correspondence, memoranda, flyers, brochures, purchase requests, bills, invoices, inventories, lists, summaries and similar documents.  Ensures correct spelling, English use, and formats in all office documents, and may compose or initiate correspondence relating to routine or established matters.
  • Operates common office equipment including personal computers, printers and scanners, keyboard devices, fax and photocopy machines, folding and binding machines and other common office devices.
  • Provides work leadership to other support staff by training users in Student Information System (SIS) operation and monitoring their use of the system.
  • Serves as the McKinney Vento Liaison by attending required trainings, providing information to various departments, maintaining considerable knowledge of the federal law, and meeting with displaced families.
