Job Goal:

To provide students with an attractive and safe natural environment in which to learn, maintaining the sites and physical facilities in a condition of operating excellence for full educational use.  The Utility Worker will ensure a safe, comfortable, clean, and efficient place for students to learn, play and develop.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and care for school grounds, including mowing lawns, pruning trees, and triming hedges. 
  • Prepare seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals as needed.
  • Plant seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings, and shrubbery to enhance the appearance of the grounds.
  • Inspect flowers, shrubs, and trees for pests and apply appropriate treatments. 
  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, sprinklers, and other equipment, making adjustments and repairs as necessary.
  • Clear snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots, spreading sand or salt to prevent slipping.
  • Collect and dispose of leaves and refuse, ensuring the grounds remain tidy.
  • Prepare athletic fields for competition and practice.
  • Perform custodial or maintenance jobs as assigned, including cleaning and disinfecting facilities.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the building by checking exit doors and panic bolts. 
  • Assist in various tasks, including moving furniture and setting up rooms for events.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift various weights (up to 100 ilbs.)
  • Capability to operate lawn care and field machinery safely. 
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and perform outdoor tasks.
Terms of Employment:   
  • 8-hour day, 12-month position.
  • Salary as established by the negotiated agreement.
