Description:
The Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District, an award winning, Central Monmouth, K-8 school district with a tradition of excellence in education, is seeking a Supervisor of Science and Social Studies with the following qualifications:

Qualifications:
New Jersey Supervisor Certificate or Principal Certificate and at least one of the following New Jersey Teaching Certificates:
  • Teacher of Science (any science-related area)
  • Teacher of Social Studies
  • Elementary School Teacher with Middle School Subject Matter Specialization: Science in Grades 5-8; or
  • Elementary School Teacher with Middle School Subject Matter Specialization: Social Studies 5-8
  • K-8 Teaching experience, preferred

Job Goal:
  • To be responsible for curriculum development, improvement, data analysis, programmatic decisions, and evaluation in the areas of science and social studies across K-8.
  • To collaborate, share expertise, and provide professional development with district staff in the content areas.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. To be responsible for the creation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and special programs, including pilots and the selection, monitoring, and evaluating of curricular resources and material lists. 
2. To supervise staff in the assigned areas and in the selection and observation of personnel. 
3. To evaluate data and to provide expertise to staff for the improvement of instruction.
4. To provide demonstration lessons and planning and facilitate professional development and in-service training. 
5. To schedule and conduct meetings with staff in assigned areas and for community members, when necessary, for the improvement of instruction and/or curriculum.
6. To assist teachers with special programs for individual pupils and small groups, such as response to intervention programs related to the content areas. 
7. To establish, maintain and enhance effective communication with administrators, teachers, parents and other stakeholders.
8. To establish and maintain curricular liaison with the Freehold Regional High School District for pertinent subject areas/grade levels. 
9. To participate in professional organizations and attend professional meetings, and to promulgate information. 
10. To be responsible for fostering school and community relations via Board of Education presentations, P.T.A., etc. 
11. To prepare budget requests for district-wide programs, new programs and special funding. 
12. To collaborate with various administrators when there is cross-curricular overlap and for special programming, such as but not limited to, special education programs, pupil personnel services, and gifted and talented. 
13. To survey literature for workshops and make information available to staff. 
14. To develop and implement the criteria for student placement in gifted and talented classes, special programs, and classes at the middle school level. Interact with staff and parents on placement. 
15. To complete required reports and other assignments promptly, comprehensively, and accurately. 
16. To present curriculum and data to the Board of Education. 
17. To complete other administrative tasks as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum.
