Description
Job Title: School Psychologist
Reports To: Director of Special Education and Supervisor of Special Education
Job Purpose: To work cooperatively with other members of the CST and school personnel in order to meet the special needs of students.
Qualifications-Required:
NJ DOE School Psychologist Certification
Knowledgeable of NJ Administrative Code for Special Education
Ability to perform required services as a school psychologist
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent writing skills
Ability to speak English clearly and accurately
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to pass the required Criminal History Review
Ability to pass the Sexual Misconduct/Child Abuse Disclosure
Qualifications-Desired:
2-3 years of experience as a school psychologist
Experience working in a public school setting
Experience working with a wide range of students from elementary to secondary
Duties/Responsibilities:
Administers individual psychological tests to students and evaluates the results to determine learning, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
Suggests remedial treatment for students diagnosed as having learning difficulties.
Advises and assists school staff with the application of remedial procedures in relation to learning difficulties, social and emotional adjustment problems of students.
Assists student support and teaching staff with the development of an appropriate learning climate for students.
Participates in all staffing meetings with the CST as an equal member for the purpose of determining the eligibility of students for special education programs and/or related services.
Recommends appropriate program placements to the Director of Special Education.
Conducts conferences with parents/guardians, teachers and administrators regarding students who are identified as special needs.
Maintains records on referred students.
Assists with the development of in-service education programs for the professional staff related to psychological services.
Coordinates the evaluation and re-evaluation process as required by law.
Performs case management duties for assigned students in accordance with NJ Administrative Code.

Minimum Salary of $60,958 (MA, Step 1)
