School Counselor

School Counselor: 

The candidate’s primary responsibility is to counsel students in resolving personal, educational and career concerns. The counselor helps students learn behavior, subject matter, and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women. This includes the following:

1. Assist in planning guidance programs and pupil personnel services for teams/grade levels;
2. Provide individual and group counseling for personal, educational and career guidance;
3.Act as consultant to, confers, and communicates with parents and staff in reference to the student’s growth and development. Counselors also play a vital role in developing the school’s and individual schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1.NJDOE School Counselor Certificate required.
2.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
3.Passion and commitment to middle level and post secondary education.
4.Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

QUALIFICATIONS

• NJ Student Personnel Services or School Counselor certification
• Masters Degree in Counseling
• Experience in Guidance and Counseling programs at a variety of grade levels.
• Computer proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point
• Strong communication skills
• Teaching and or School Counseling experience preferred
• Required criminal history background check
