Woodglen Middle School Special Education Teacher

Job Description:

We are accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher at our middle school.  Assignment ranges grades 5th through 7th.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:

• Assumes professional responsibility for providing learning experiences and supervision of assigned students in a supportive and positive classroom climate.
• Develops in each child the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school.
• Achieving academic excellence requires that the Special Education Teacher work collaboratively with other members of the school staff and with parents of each child.
• Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, children with disabilities, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning and children with exceptional needs.
• Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.

Requirements:

• New Jersey Instructional Certificate
  • New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped or Students with Disabilities
  • New Jersey Instructional Certificate 
• Successful clearance of criminal history
