Description

Position Summary:

Provides assistance to the Cooks in the preparation, clean up, and service of food to students/persons served that meet approved quality, nutrition, health and safety regulations and requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of Manager/Food services and the following specific menu and preparation instructions, provides assistance in the preparation and serving of daily meals for students/persons served in the Kohler Academy.
  • Prepares food for serving, arranges serving trays, and replenishes serving lines as necessary, to ensure the availability of prepared foods throughout the course of the meal.
  • Properly operates, cleans, and sanitizes kitchen work area, countertops, equipment, supplies, and tools to ensure a safe and healthy work environment at all times.
  • Properly stores food, leftovers, etc., in accordance with approved food storage and refrigeration requirements.
  • Participates in the preparation and serving of foods for special catered events sponsored by Bancroft; e.g., Board meetings, special conferences, committee meetings, etc.; as required. 
  • Projects a positive self-image of technical professionalism, appearance, confidentiality, courtesy, conduct, honesty, fairness, and personal integrity at all times.  
  • Performs other food service and food preparation activities, as required.  Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by organizational and departmental needs.
  • Abides by the Bancroft Code of Ethics, Mission Statement, and Vision Statement in promoting ethical behavior, establishing relationships and providing guidance in decision-making situations.
  • Remains current with required training certifications, meets state-regulated licensing and regulatory accreditations, and adheres to mandatory requirements.
  • Maintains effective verbal and written communications with colleagues, those served, and their family members and/or guardians when applicable.
  • Willingly and effectively cooperates with Bancroft, The Department of Education (DOE), The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agencies or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations, upon request.

  • Maintains a safe and respectful environment, free of abuse, neglect, or exploitation; does not allow weapons, threats, bullying or intimidation.

  • Reports any violations to the appropriate individual as soon as the incident occurs.

Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of direct experience working in an educational environment, or, 30 college credits with six months of related work experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field are required. Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
