Job descriptionA reading specialist typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include: • Observing students in their natural environments to gather information about their behavior, interests, and needs • Conducting assessments of students’ academic skills to determine their needs, such as in reading comprehension, basic mathematics skills, or writing ability • Creating individualized lesson plans that are tailored to meet each student’s specific needs • Providing one-on-one tutoring to students who need extra help with their schoolwork • Communicating regularly with teachers and parents about student progress • Helping students learn to read by using methods such as phonics and teaching them about the structure of language and how it impacts comprehension • Conducting group instruction in reading for students who have similar needs • Providing enrichment activities or remedial instruction in reading skills such as phonics or fluency exercises • Developing intervention plans for students using a variety of educational strategies, materials, and methods to help them improve their reading skillsReading Specialist Certification Required. Minimum of three years of job related experience i.e, teacher, reading teacher/reading specialist. Masters preferred. Compensation: 56K-80K, retention bonus available
