Assistant Winter Track Coach
**Specializing in Throwing Events**
 

I. Title: Assistant Coach

II. Function: To provide leadership, supervision and organization of the specific sports program.

III. Qualifications: Must hold a teaching certificate or other qualification in accordance with the State Department of Education or other law and regulation.

IV. Reports To: Assistant Principal of Athletics

 

V. Requirements:

  1. Board of Education Approved

  2. A provisional, standard or substitute teaching certificate

  3. A New Jersey Resident

  4. Required Courses:

    1. Fundamentals of Coaching (One time requirement)

    2. Sports Specific First Aid Training (One time requirement)

    3. CPR and AED Certification (Every two years)

    4. Concussion Awareness Course (Must be completed every year)

    5. Heat Acclimatization Course (Must be completed every year)

    6. Implicit Bias (One time requirement)

 

VI. Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Contact, where necessary, and recommend assistant coaches for the program (if applicable). 

  2. Prepare detailed duties of each assistant coach (if applicable). 

  3. Keep abreast of the latest rules and regulations of the NJSIAA and the Shore Conference. 

  4. Assist in the distribution and collection of uniforms and equipment.

  5. Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis, which will develop the athletes to their optimum potential. 

  6. Plan and administer the supervision of all team members. 

  7. Provide the Assistant Principal of Athletics with lists of team members when so requested. 

  8. Act as the liaison between the program and the media, booster club and, when necessary, the general public. 

  9. Post all rules and regulation relative to discipline, attendance, letter award policy and other matters as deemed necessary by the Director of Athletics. 

  10. Keep the Assistant Principal of Athletics informed of all disciplinary problems and of all injuries. 

  11. When necessary, administer first aid to an injured player using the latest approved techniques. 

  12. Report all injuries to the Athletic Trainer. 

  13. Report all potentially dangerous conditions to the Assistant Principal of Athletics.

  14. Evaluate all assistant coaches (if applicable). 

  15. Maintain records of the team and of individual accomplishments. 

  16. Assist the equipment manager with an inventory at the conclusion of the season if deemed necessary by the Assistant Principal of Athletics. 

  17. Prepare a budget in conjunction with the Assistant Principal of Athletics. 

  18. Cooperate with colleges and college coaches as it pertains to assisting athletes choosing college placement. 

  19. Related duties as requested by the Assistant Principal of Athletics.
