Job Title: High School Business Teacher (Anticipated)
Reports To: Principal, Director of Vocational Education and CTE, Supervisor of CTE and Instructional Technology
Job Purpose: Provide instruction to high school students in the areas of Business, including Accounting, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Financial Applications, and other business education courses as needed.
Qualifications-Required:
NJ Teacher Certification (Business) (Standard, CEAS, CE)
Ability to create high quality lessons in the area of business and accounting
Ability to differentiate instruction
Ability to motivate high school students
Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards
Adobe Creative Cloud
Ability to integrate technology effectively
Ability to write and follow lesson plans
Strong classroom management
Ability to speak English clearly and accurately
Excellent communication skills, oral and written
Ability to make learning relevant to students
Ability to assess student level of learning
Ability to pass the criminal history review
Ability to pass the post-offer physical examination
Ability to pass the Sexual Misconduct Child Abuse Disclosure
Qualifications-Desired:
1-2 years’ experience teaching high school students
Previous entrepreneurship or business experience
Carl D. Perkins grant experience
Experience with co-curricular programs and competitive events including the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
Familiarity with Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching
Project-based learning experience
Experience with teaching finance related topics
Experience creating technology integrated lessons
Duties/Responsibilities:
The teacher has materials, supplies and equipment for each lesson ready at the start of the lesson or instructional activity; gets the class started quickly; gets students on task quickly and maintains a high level of student time-on-task
The teacher has established a set of rules and procedures that govern the handling of routine administrative matters
The teacher maintains clear, firm and reasonable work standards and due dates
The teacher provides timely feedback to students on assignments and assessments to promote educational growth
The teacher has an instructional plan which is compatible with the school and district-wide curricular goals as approved by the Board of Education
The teacher uses diagnostic information obtained from tests and other assessment procedures to develop and revise objectives and learning tasks
The teacher provides grading and feedback on all student assignments and projects
The teacher treats all students in a fair and equitable manner; interacts effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and community
The teacher carries out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as need is perceived
The teacher adheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations
The teacher follows a plan for professional development and demonstrates evidence of growth
The teacher will work with colleagues to review student data and plan for instruction through a professional learning community
The teacher will work with colleagues to analyze data from common assessments to help shape future instruction, accounting for varied student backgrounds & maturity
Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information to include receiving instructions, assignments and/or directions from superiors
The teacher is responsible for monitoring the safety and well-being of students, including maintaining a clean and orderly environment
The teacher is responsible for motivating students on a daily basis
The teacher is responsible for performing general clerical duties and following oral and written directions
Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc.., and the ability to prepare correspondence, simple reports, forms, instructional materials, etc., using prescribed formats
The teacher performs other related work as required
