High School Science Teacher - 2025 -2026 School Year

Mount St. Dominic Academy is an independent 9-12 all-girls high school, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Dominic. The school is uniquely situated in western Essex County and draws from The Caldwells, West Essex, Cedar Grove, Verona, Montclair, Glen Ridge as well as Bloomfield, Belleville, Newark and The Oranges. We seek resumes from experienced and passionate High School Science teachers for the 2025 -2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of teaching Coding, Engineering, and Robotics. In addition, the teacher may be responsible for leading other science electives, such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Forensic Science. This role provides a unique opportunity to educate and inspire young women in a supportive and challenging academic environment. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position reports directly to the Principal. Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (minimum) with prior teaching experience.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Teach Coding, Engineering, and Robotics, fostering a deep understanding of complex concepts.
  • Develop and instruct engaging electives in Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Forensic Science, tailored to students' interests and educational needs.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, intellectual curiosity, and respect for all students.
  • Create, administer, and evaluate assessments to monitor and support student progress and understanding.
  • Provide academic support and mentorship, helping students reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in science education and pedagogical strategies.
  • Work closely with fellow faculty, administration, and parents to support student success and uphold the mission and values of the Academy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Valid state teaching certification in Secondary Science or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Proven experience teaching Coding, Engineering, and Robotics; experience in teaching electives such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Forensic Science is highly desirable.

 

Salary:

  • $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
