Position Overview:
Saint Vincent Academy, a private, Catholic, college-preparatory high school for young women in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Science/Math Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The ideal candidate will have the knowledge, passion, and versatility to teach a combination of science and math courses, including Forensic Science, Environmental Science, Ecology, Algebra II, Geometry, and Calculus. We seek an educator who can inspire students, foster intellectual curiosity, and academic excellence in the classroom.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach a full-time course load consisting of science and math classes aligned with school and state curriculum standards
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that support diverse learning styles and academic abilities
- Integrate technology, real-world applications, and interdisciplinary approaches into instruction
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative methods
- Participate actively in the school community through advisement, committees, and school events
- Collaborate with department colleagues and administration to support student growth and school mission
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, attendance, and assessments
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Mathematics, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- NJ Teaching Certification (or ability to obtain certification) in appropriate subject areas
- Demonstrated ability to teach high school-level Forensic Science, Environmental Science, and Ecology
- Strong content knowledge in Algebra II, Geometry, and Calculus
- Prior high school teaching experience strongly preferred
- Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of Saint Vincent Academy
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
