Position: 
Middle School Assistant Principal
Principal Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility required.

Assistant Principal Job Summary:

The Assistant Principal is responsible for providing educational leadership and administrative support for the successful operation of our school. This position works closely with the Principal to ensure that students are achieving the educational objectives set by the school district. The Assistant Principal also supervises and provides guidance to teachers, staff, and students, as well as develops and implements school policies, procedures, and programs.

Assistant Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Principal in the day-to-day management of the school
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate school personnel
  • Oversee the curriculum and academic programs
  • Work closely with teachers to ensure that students are achieving educational targets
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure a safe learning environment
  • Plan and facilitate professional development activities
  • Chair the School 504/I&RS Committee
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and the community
  • Attend and supervise school events such as games, dances, concerts, musicals, etc.
  • Handle student discipline issues in a fair and effective manner
  • Provide effective advice and support to staff relating to classroom management and discipline
  • Maintain effective communication with parents in relation to all student disciplinary matters.
  • Oversee extracurricular activities
  • Develop and implement school policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Assistant Principal Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Education Administration or a related field required
  • At least five years of teaching or administrative experience required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of best practices in school safety and security
  • Understanding of current educational trends and best practices
  • Able to build capacity and a positive outlook with all staff when implementing/supporting new initiatives
  • Able to motivate and mentor staff and students
  • Able to develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and the community
