Interim Assistant Superintendent, Business/Board Secretary
 
Cherry Hill Public Schools is seeking an Interim Assistant Superintendent, Business/Board Secretary to provide fiscal leadership and operational oversight.  Our district, in Camden County, serves preschool through grade 12 students and is composed of an early childhood center, 12 elementary schools, three middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, and an alternative high school program.  We are the 11th largest school district in New Jersey with approximately 11,000 students. Each of our schools has earned the designation of National School of Character from character.org and was designated as a National District of Character in 2023. In October 2022, the district passed a $363 million bond referendum which entails comprehensive upgrades through the 2027-2028 school year in all 19 of our school buildings.
 
The successful candidate for this role will support the district’s by ensuring strong financial management, operational efficiency, and compliance with state and federal regulations, all while working collaboratively with the Superintendent and Board of Education which is critical in maintaining financial stability and ensuring the smooth operation of district services.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Provide fiscal oversight of the district’s budget, expenditures, and financial planning. Serve as Board Secretary, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and governance requirements. Oversee finance, payroll, purchasing, buildings and grounds, food services, transportation, and other essential operations. Facilitate long-range financial and capital project planning with district leadership. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Work closely with district administration, staff, and the Board of Education to support the goals of the district.
 
Qualifications:
  • NJ School Business Administrator Certification
  • Three (3) years experience as a Business Administrator or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrates experience in business, budget, finance/payroll, accounting, and operational services
  • Extensive knowledge in the areas of program and cost analysis, accounting, reports management, facilities management, transportation and purchasing.
  • Successful leadership qualities and ability to motivate and inspire our highly qualified staff.
  • Ability to effectively analyze data to evaluate, streamline and improve processes
  • Work with other school administrators and the Board of Education in interpreting the school budget and other applicable areas of school business and finances
  • Institute a program of financial controls and serve as a liaison with district and state auditors
  • Interpret, clarify and administer various personnel policies of the Board and appropriate negotiated agreements for the groups of employees
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, parents and community
  • Extra duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Position State Date: June 1, 2025 to work with the existing personnel and take over July 1, 2025 and until position is filled.
