SALARY:      As per agreement between the Phillipsburg Board of Education and the Phillipsburg Education Association
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:          Teach English as a Second Language to High School Students (Grades 9-12)
 
QUALIFICATIONS, MANDATORY:      1.   Valid New Jersey Teacher of ESL
                                                                              Standard Certificate, Certificate of
                                                                              Eligibility, or Certificate of Eligibility
                                                                              w/Advanced Standing.
                                                                        2.   Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of teaching English as a Second Language, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis and research related to learning and children needing to learn English as a second language.
                                                                        3.   Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing with proper grammar and vocabulary.
4.   Student-centered focus
5.   Required criminal history background check.
QUALIFICATIONS, DESIRED:   The applicant should be knowledgeable/have experience in the following:
  1. Knowledge SEI and balanced literacy
  2. Common Core Standards & WIDA Standards
  3. Experience Administering ACCESS Test
  4. Developmentally Appropriate Practices
  5. Collaborative Teaching
