Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction
Summary Job Description:
To provide leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of Individual
Behavioral Plans, Spectrum360 Academic Curriculum, IEP’s and Instruction for Program.
Qualifications:
? Valid New Jersey Supervisor of Instruction, Teacher of the Handicapped, School
Administrator or Principal certificate.
? Minimum three years’ successful teaching experience.
? Demonstrated leadership in school improvement, program development and curriculum
integration.
Responsibilities:
? Work with Administration and staff in developing the total school curriculum, and assist
in the formulation of a philosophy and objectives for the instructional plan.
? Study, evaluate and make recommendations to the Principal, Chief Operating Officer
and CEO/Executive Director, the adoption of new instructional materials, methods, and
programs.
? Meet on a regular basis with all department, subject, and special area teachers for the
purpose of maintaining ongoing supervision of the coordination and implementation of
the school’s curriculum.
? Supervise instruction of staff and implementation of student’s IEP’s with emphasis on
developing IEP and identifying appropriate instructional strategies.
? Schedule, notify, and chair Annual Review, Re-Evaluation Planning, eligibility and other
IEP related meetings with staff, CST, parent and student when appropriate. Input
meeting results into Realtime.
? Review and approve all progress report cards four times a year and meet with teachers
for revisions when indicated.
? Provide in-service to staff on subjects relevant to curriculum development, teaching
strategies and learning profiles of students.
? Provide leadership in the development of the instructional program for all areas of the
curriculum.
? Maintain a curriculum reference library for the use of the staff.
? Secure and make available to the staff samples of various instructional materials,
textbooks, and curriculum guides.
? Coordinate the selection of textbooks and instructional materials throughout the school
through the use of staff committees.
? Keep abreast of and interpret to the staff, the current research in the area of curriculum
development.
? Recommend teacher attendance at conferences and meetings planned for professional
development and growth.
? Conduct classroom observations and provide supervision/evaluation of teachers and
non-certified staff as requested by the Principal.
? Assist in the development and coordination of the sections of the budget that pertain to
curriculum and instruction.
? Assist in the recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of instructional
personnel.
? Assume responsibility for arranging statewide testing programs and for other evaluative
measures used by the school.
? Assist with the admission and intake process of students
a. Attend intake meetings/interviews as scheduled to assess the appropriateness of
the student for the school program.
b. Review intake paperwork as needed.
? Be knowledgeable and implement all child management procedures.
? Oversee and coordinate the Training and monitoring of staff implementing behavior
management plans.
? Be responsible for discipline issues in the absence of the Principal.
? Carry out special functions, projects, or assignments as requested by the
CEO/Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer or Principal
? Conduct new staff and full staff orientation meetings in conjunction with other
administrators.
? Attend and participate in meetings as scheduled including Administrative meetings, Full
Staff meetings, team meetings, program meetings. Chair bi-weekly teacher meetings.
? Attend and participate in Case Reviews with Consulting Psychiatrist, Administrators, and
clinicians when indicated by individual needs of students.
? Comply with all policies and procedures of Spectrum360.
? Accurately complete all necessary reports for management of the day-to-day school
program in accordance with law, administrative code and Spectrum360 policies.
? Follow all recommendations of administration (CEO/Executive Director, Chief Operating
Officer Principal).
? Correct all areas relating to performance as identified by the Principal during
performance evaluation.
*Also accountable to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), who may advise the supervisor on
relevant matters including the performance evaluation.
