TITLE:                         INSTRUCTIONAL COACH

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid NJ Teacher Certification in any content area 
  • Preferred Teacher Leader Endorsement
  • Three or more years of successful experience in teaching. 
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of state and federal education laws, regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively administer education programs and to work with parents, community groups, and agencies.  
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills
  • Completed required criminal history check, employment background check  

REPORTS TO:  Principal, Vice Principal and Curriculum Developer

JOB GOAL AND BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The Instructional Coach will work with the TECCS Principal, Vice Principal, Curriculum Developer and  teaching staff to ensure that all students demonstrate student achievement gains, show growth in analytical thinking, and in self discipline. The Instructional Coach will work closely with teachers towards setting and achieving goals specific to highly effective teaching practices. 

The Ethical Community Charter School (TECCS) philosophy is grounded in the study of ethics: the way people treat each other and the value of service to others. The Instructional Coach will support the school’s mission and will:

  • Foster an ethical, positive, structured, consistent, caring, and disciplined school atmosphere 
  • Ensure that the school climate supports our C.A.R.E.S  expectations program. This program supports the core ethics component of a TECCS education. C.A.R.E.S. empowers the learner to identify social and/or academic misjudgments and provides them with resources to rectify those social and/or academic acts.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Instructional Coach position may include, but not be limited to:

  1. Create a working teacher/coach compact and relationship built on mutual respect and a common goal of pursuing best practices. 
  2. Perform weekly classroom visits. 
  3. Keep organized documentation of classroom visits and qualitative data to support teacher’s goals
  4. Meet with teachers weekly to provide high quality feedback about classroom visits. 
  5. Support goals created for teachers by providing guidance, resources, and modeling.
  6. Support academic programs by providing feedback on positive and negative aspects. 
  7. Works closely with the Principal and Vice Principal to establish a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and creative school culture.
  8.  Maintains weekly admin academic meetings  with curriculum developer and admin team.
  9.  Models the school’s values and the standard for professional behavior.
  10. Provides professional development and in-class support to teachers, as needed, to ensure instruction is consistently improving.
  11. Recommends any professional development to administration, which supports improvement and enhances academic success.
