Anticipated Work-based Learning Coordinator (part-time) position - Starting September 2024.

The Gateway School is an Approved Private School for Students with Disabilities located in Carteret, New Jersey. We offer a great workplace environment and supportive team atmosphere. Competitive salary. Must possess strong organizational/communication skills.

Duties include:

  • Assisting the Teachers, Principal and/or Supervisor of Instruction in the day-to-day operation of the student work program.
  • Share knowledge and awareness with staff members regarding legal, occupational safety and health principles to ensure safe and rewarding community-based experiences for minors and adult-students inside and outside of the classroom
  • The preparation and maintenance of state mandated forms along with the classroom teachers to ensure that State Standards are aligned with work experience goals and objectives
  • To serve as a liaison between sending districts’ Transition Coordinators and teachers to implements appropriate WBL plans
  • To assist teachers in implementing appropriate social and personal goals for students ages 16 – 21 as reflected in the students’ IEPs and to encourage assessments by employers when appropriate
  • To encourage student taking and maintaining responsibility for their own work
  • Aiding students to adhere to workplace guidelines and procedures; and to reflect on their experiences to develop their own career goals

K-6 and TOH or TOSD certification required.

Must demonstrate successful completion of NJ Work-Based Learning Coordinator Courses.
