Description

Caldwell University invites applications for a full-time, seasonal Summer Academy Instructor.  The program runs from June 23, 2025 to August 1, 2025. Reporting to the Summer Academy Program Director, the Instructor will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of camp activities that focus on the intellectual, physical, and emotional development of the campers. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising and engaging with campers during activities 
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of camp activities designed to promote the growth of campers mentally, physically, and socially
  • Fostering a positive group dynamic by encouraging teamwork, respect, and inclusion
  • Ensuring camper safety at all times and maintaining vigilant supervision throughout the day
  • Supporting campers in developing new skills, building confidence, and creating lasting friendships
  • Leading and participating in group discussions, team-building exercises, and other camper engagement activities
  • Serving as a positive role model for campers by demonstrating responsibility, good manners, and respect for others
  • Maintaining regular communication with parents, providing updates on camper progress and addressing any concerns
  • Monitoring and recording camper attendance each morning
  • Ensuring all camp equipment is in good condition, safely used, and returned to its proper place
  • Maintaining and cleaning assigned areas of the camp, ensuring that facilities are safe and well-kept
  • Assisting with special events, performances, or other activities as needed
  • Reporting any issues or concerns to the Summer Academy Program Director in a timely manner
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations

 

Candidates must have the ability to implement age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate activities. Areas of content expertise in STEM, Art, Music, Theater, Robotics, Business,  Nursing, Digital Media, College Readiness, and SAT Prep. Experience working with children or in a camp or recreational setting. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with children, parents, and other staff members. Ability to adapt to a variety of environments and respond to the needs of campers with care and patience. 

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry items (up to 20 lbs). Must also  be able to communicate verbally and project one’s voice clearly in a variety of environments. Ability to participate in physical activities such as outdoor games, sports, and other camp-related activities
