Description Title:               Long Term Substitute - HS Art Teacher  November 2024 to April 2025
 
Qualifications:           Holds, or is eligible for, a New Jersey Instructional Certificate, with the appropriate teaching endorsement.
 
Reports to:                 Building principal or other appropriately certificated superior as designated by the Superintendent.
 
Job Goal:       To instruct assigned students in designated subject matter area (s) in accordance with the course of study, curriculum or guides approved by the Board of Education.
 
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Remains abreast of current developments and interpretations of subject matter in assigned area (s).
  • Remains abreast of current developments and interpretations in teaching methodology.
  • Motivates students to master designated subject matter.
  • Plans lessons that meet the needs, interests and abilities of the students.
  • Endeavors to create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists, as required.
  • Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Assists in curriculum development and in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Instructs, advises, coaches, supervises, and/or directs extracurricular activities.
  • Supervises behavior in the hallways, lunchroom, and on school grounds for the safety and well-being of students, personnel and visitors.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Performs other duties which may be within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned by his/her superior (s) under the authority of the Board of Education.
