Position Overview:
Saint Vincent Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated High School Guidance Counselor to support the academic, emotional, and social development of our students. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and approachable individual who is committed to creating a positive and inclusive school environment, helping young women navigate their educational journey, and guiding them toward success in high school and beyond.

As a Guidance Counselor, you will provide individual and group counseling, assist with college and career planning, and work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to support the holistic well-being of students. You will also play a vital role in identifying students who may need additional support and developing interventions to help them thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, personal, and social matters.
  • Assist students in developing and achieving personal, academic, and career goals.
  • Support students with course selection, academic planning, and graduation requirements.
  • Guide students through the college application process, including selecting schools, completing applications, writing personal statements, and applying for scholarships.
  • Coordinate and conduct workshops on topics such as study skills, test preparation, and time management.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and school staff to address concerns and ensure students receive the necessary support.
  • Monitor and support students’ emotional well-being, referring them to appropriate services when necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff to promote student success and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of counseling sessions, academic progress, and student concerns.
  • Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and other community activities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or related field (required).
  • Valid state certification/licensure as a School Counselor (or ability to obtain).
  • Previous experience as a guidance counselor or in a related field (preferred).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of college admissions processes, career planning, and mental health resources.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and approachable demeanor with a commitment to student success.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to integrate technology and data systems into counseling practices.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
