JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TECHNICIAN LEVEL 1

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possess or demonstrate ability to obtain entry-level industry certifications including, but not limited to, Network+, CCENT, A+, Microsoft MCP, etc.

  2. Competent with troubleshooting procedures for Apple MacOS, Apple iOS, Microsoft Windows, and Google Chromebooks.

  3. Ability to troubleshoot and correct computer software, hardware failures, and correct audio/visual equipment failures, including triaging failed equipment for additional repairs as necessary.

  4. Basic understanding of network protocols, Active Directory, cloud services, IP phones, virtualization, digital citizenship and cybersecurity best practices.

  5. Must have experience working with modern computer operating systems as well as familiarity with local area networks.

  6. Broad knowledge of instructional technology equipment and applications, on-line services, technology resources and integration of technology across the curriculum

  7. Organizational skills and the ability to work independently, efficiently, and effectively under demanding time constraints.

  8. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members, staff, and students.

  9. Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status.

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology

 

SUPERVISES: NA

 

JOB GOAL: Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology, supports the maintenance of the district’s computers and computer-related devices in the most feasible,

economical, and efficient manner possible with minimal disruption to the educational program


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Repair and maintain all district computer, networking, IP phones, and audio/visual equipment as assigned in a timely manner.

  2. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all district computer hardware and peripherals.

  3. Submitting requisitions for repairs and necessary parts/supplies needed in a timely manner through district defined channels.

  4. Using the assigned district work order system; maintain records of diagnostic steps taken/needed, log current repair status and note steps taken to final resolution.

  5. Trains selected individuals for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use computer systems and new or existing software.

  6. Follow all district approved workflows, field procedures and protocols.

  7. Provide first level technical support/repair services for building students and staff.

  8. Provide positive customer service while working with both technical and non-technical staff.

  9. Escalating tickets to appropriate personnel when needed.

  10. Cooperates professionally with all staff members and works closely with assigned team members to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.

  11. Cooperate and communicate with the Department of Technology team to share related information across the organization as needed.

  12. Demonstrating the ability to be flexible and responsive to a wide range of assigned tasks and reacts in a positive fashion to unanticipated redirections.

  13. Be able to travel between school facilities as needed.

  14. Assists in making recommendations regarding the purchase of new computers, software, and related equipment.

  15. Participates in staff-development programs, assists with instruction of staff in the use of hardware and operating systems as well as productivity applications and curriculum-specific software.

  16. Participates in in-service and mandated training activities as assigned.

  17. Performing all duties as assigned by the district Director of Technology.

  18. Performs other duties within the scope of employment and certification as may be assigned

EMPLOYMENT:

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with

state law and the provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of

certified personnel.
