DISTRICT DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
Position available 1/1/25 - 6/30/25

The District Director of Special Education performs district-wide leadership duties relevant to the education of students who require special education services as well as academic, social/emotional, and behavioral support services.  Provides direct supervision of the special education supervisors who assist the District Director of Special Education in overseeing the evaluation process for special education services and the development and implementation of student IEPs.  The successful candidate will provide leadership in the development, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and recommendation of special education programs/services integrated into the general education programs of the district.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree or higher in a related field of special education required
• NJ School Administrator certificate or eligible for same required
• Minimum of 10 years in education required, at least 5 of the years in the field of Special Education, Guidance, or Child Study Team, and 5 in administration preferred
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of special education law
• Comprehensive knowledge of Least Restrictive Environment regulations and best practices in implementation
• Comprehensive knowledge of IEP requirements and Section 504 plans, including compliance with State and Federal guidelines
• Ability to serve as an effective liaison to various offices and agencies within and outside the community
• Such other qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate

Terms of Employment

• 12 month year
• salary and benefits negotiable
