Elementary Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

The Elementary Special Education Teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities utilizing differentiated teaching strategies to ensure all students achieve their fullest potential. Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective lesson plans that meet the individual needs of students with disabilities.
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with parents, teachers, and other professionals.
• Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to support student learning.
• Provide direct instruction and support in all subjects.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in special education.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and engage them in the educational process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Special Education.
• Valid New Jersey teaching certification in Special Education.
• Experience teaching secondary level students with special needs.
• Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.
• Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in English and another language is preferred but not required.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration.

Pay: $54,000.00 per year
