1.0 FTE – SOUTH ORANGE MIDDLE SCHOOL

THE POSITION

The goal of this position is to teach middle school students within a challenging Social Studies curriculum.  

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  1. NJ Teacher Certification K-12 Social Studies or Elementary School required. Subject Matter Specialization: Social Studies Grades 5 – 8 preferred.
  2. Meets NJ standards for Highly Qualified Social Studies Teacher.
  3. Knowledge of Middle School philosophy.
  4. Experience with differentiated instruction.
  5. Teaching experience preferred, especially with middle school students.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially excellent rapport with children.
  7. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status.

Starting Salary Range:

•Bachelor's Degree: $57,985 - $83,185
•Master’s Degree: $64,985 - $92,785
•Master's + 30 Credits: $68,785 - $98,585
•Doctorate: $70,785 - $100,585

JOB GOAL(S)
 
To provide instructional leadership in the classroom in accordance with the course of study approved by the Board of Education approved curriculum.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Implements instruction to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.

Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives.
4. Employs instructional methods and available materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
 
5. Assesses the performance of students on a continuing basis and provides progress reports as required.

Identifies students who require additional support services.
7.
 
Communicates with colleagues, students, and parents.
8.
 
Maintains high expectations for student performance and behavior.
9.
 
Engages in professional development activities, which enhances instructional practices.
10.
 
Participates in appropriate building and district meetings.
11.
 
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
