CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
School Administrator Standard certification OR Certificate of Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
 Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and design.
 Demonstrated skill in developing and overseeing assessment programs and student assessment.
 Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practice.
 Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology, web-based resources, and other emerging technologies.
 Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Federal and State Programs/Grants.
 Strong understanding of current educational research.
 Knowledge of mandatory testing.
 Current understanding of school law.
 Demonstrated leadership skills with programs and people.
 Demonstrated ability to relate to community and diverse populations.
 Experience in developing and managing local, state and federal grants.
 Good communication skills – speaking, writing, and technical.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as coordinator of curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development by:
 
a. Formulating plans, in cooperation with staff and administration for the improvement and
advancement of the instructional program.
b. Helping to oversee the publishing of curriculum guides, programs of study, research materials,
and so forth, for use by the instructional staff.
c. Providing oversight for the informational, educational and instructional technology programs,
including but not limited to the technology plans and upgrades, and general productivity tools.
d. Conducting meetings with instructional supervisors, to develop an instructional program
responsive to school and community needs.
e. Encouraging the participation of administrators, supervisors, teachers, students, parents, and
other community members in developing curricula.
f. Assessing the climate of schools periodically to determine areas that need improvement.
g. Evaluating the needs and priorities for curriculum workshops, and submitting
recommendations as part of budget development.
h. Facilitating programs for at-risk and gifted learners.
i. Meeting with parents as a formal step in the district's appeal process.
j. Arranging presentations, formal and informal, which help inform the Board of Education and
other concerned groups about current programs.
k. Assisting with the organization and administration of the district standardized testing program
and state-mandated testing program.
l. Supervising the interpretation of standardized and criterion referenced test data in
cooperation with members of the administrative and instructional staff.
m. Developing a program to disseminate the results of district testing programs to the Board of
Education, the professional staff and the general public.
n. Developing, organizing, managing, and implementing professional development activities
including but not limited to in-service days, new teacher orientation, educational consultants,
afterschool offerings, and out of district requests
o. Managing the professional development budget and securing additional resources.
 
2. Be responsible for professional staff supervision and development by:
 
a. Making regular, systematic visits to the classroom, and constructive appraisals of staff
performance to help teachers increase their effectiveness.
b. Assisting with the development and maintenance of an on-going professional development
program.
c. Assisting with the development of and orientation program for new staff.
d. Actively supervising and participating in curriculum workshops.
e. Providing assistance and supplemental materials to supervisors and teachers as needed.
 
3. Serve as the district ESEA coordinator:
 
a. Consulting with building principals, Director of Student Achievement, Equity & Opportunity, and  ESEA committees to develop a needs assessment.
b. Overseeing completion and submission of the ESEA application electronically along with the Director of Student Achievement, Equity & Opportunity.
c. Monitoring the implementation of all Title I Targeted Assistance programs and schoolwide programs
d. Providing all Title I schools with technical assistance as needed.
e. Maintaining accurate records and budgetary documentation in accordance with ESEA
regulations.
 
4. Coordinate all federal/state entitlement grants and Lawrence Township Education Foundation grants by:
 
a. Ensuring timely and complete participation in the application process.
b. Monitoring the implementation of grants.
c. Completing all necessary follow-up reports.
d. Maintaining accurate records and budgetary documentation in accordance with grant
regulations.
 
5. Coordinate the timely and accurate dissemination of information about the school district.
 
6. Facilitate the PreK-12 extended day and extended school programs -- remedial and enrichment.
 
7. Keep up-to-date professionally by reading widely, attending professional meetings, visiting other
school systems, and using any other means that will contribute to professional growth.
 
8. Serve as Superintendent’s designee as necessary.
 
9. Perform such other tasks and assume such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
