1.0 FTE - COLUMBIA HIGH SCHOOL

AVAILABLE MARCH 10, 2025 THROUGH JUNE 13, 2025
 
THE POSITION
Candidate should have experience teaching high school English, experience with teaching reading in grades 9-12, and be familiar with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1. New Jersey Teacher of English Certification required.
2. Experience with differentiated instruction.
3. Knowledge of national standards.
4. Knowledge of teaching reading and writing as a process.
5. Motivated individual to work with a team of dedicated educators who exhibits strong interpersonal & communication skills. 6. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status.

  • New Jersey Instructional Certificate or eligibility.
  • Teaching experience preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in subject area.

  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status.

To provide instructional leadership in the classroom in accordance with the course of study approved by the Board of Education approved curriculum.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  1. Implements instruction to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
 
  1. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
 
  1. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives.
 
  1. Employs instructional methods and available materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
 
  1. Assesses the performance of students on a continuing basis and provides progress reports as required.
 
  1. Identifies students who require additional support services.
 
  1. Communicates with colleagues, students, and parents.
 
  1. Maintains high expectations for student performance and behavior.
 
  1. Engages in professional development activities, which enhances instructional practices.
 
  1.  Participates in appropriate building and district meetings.
 
  1.  Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
 
  1.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
 WORKING RELATIONSHIPS  OF THE POSITION:  To maintain effective relationships with teachers, students, parents, administrators and appropriate community groups.
