QUALIFICATIONS: |
1. |
Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate and School Psychologist Endorsement. |
2. |
Knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education and demonstrated ability to effectively provide testing, psychological evaluation and counseling services. |
3. |
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. |
DUTIES: |
1. |
Assess difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices. |
2. |
Administer tests and recommend placement for all exceptional and new students. |
3. |
Serve as a member on both the intervention and referral service team. |
4. |
Maintain case records on all referred students. |
5. |
Recommend corrective procedures. |
6. |
Conduct individual, group, or facilitative therapy for children whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavior modification. |
7. |
Confer with teachers and parents whenever necessary. |
8. |
Consult on special educational needs of students with disabilities. |
9. |
Attend case conferences on placement of individual students. |
10. |
Serve as a consultant on mental health topics for instructors in the school health program. |
11. |
Interpret the school psychological services to teachers and parents. |
12. |
Prepare and submit required reports on mentally retarded children and special education programs. |
13. |
Supervise special education classes. |
14. |
Cooperate with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies. |
