Student Assistance Coordinator

Job Summary:
The position is a Student Assistance Coordinator for the 2024/2025 school year
 
Qualifications:
  • Valid New Jersey Student Assistance Coordinator Certification or eligibility. 
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Excellent communication and counseling skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans especially as it pertains to I&RS.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, students and substance use. 
  • Knowledge of NJSA 18A:40A-1 and procedures for the identification of students possibly abusing drugs, alcohol, or other substances and mental health issues / concerns
  • Knowledge of community resources available for the prevention, intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation of alcohol and drug problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with at risk students.
  • Knowledge of behavioral modifications and intervention strategies which will improve student behavior and motivate disaffected students.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead group counseling
  • Successful experience in diverse environments preferred. 
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities. 
  • Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. 
  • Ability to work on site during the hours required with students, staff, parents, outside agencies, and community groups.
