Report to:         School Business Administrator/Board Secretary

 

Salary Guide:    Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education, full-time,

                          12-month non-affiliated position

 

Job Goal:           

 

Performs a variety of administrative and staff support duties for the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary which requires a range of skills and knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; offers information and assistance, as necessary, to board members, staff, students, parents, and the public; works with the administration to resolve problems and inquiries, composes, edits and proofread correspondence and reports, and, prepares a range of administrative documents including memos, meeting agendas, supporting documents and minutes.        

 

Qualifications:           

  1. High school diploma and two (2) years of post-secondary training in secretarial skills/office practice or five (5) years of successful employment experience (preferably in a public school district in NJ) as an executive secretary or administrative assistant;
  2. Background and/or experience in accounting and bookkeeping a plus;
  3. Demonstrate familiarity with the operation of a school district;
  4. Demonstrate effective knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, BoardDocs and Systems 3000;
  5. Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal including phone skills and general correspondence;
  6. Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills;
  7. Demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, and meet established deadlines;
  8. Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, expedite and schedule work efficiently, and manage office tasks;
  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary may find appropriate and acceptable.
